Lexus RX 350L vs Acura MDX: Performance

Both the Lexus RX 350L and Acura MDX will sport standard V6 engines. On the Lexus model, you'll find it paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the Acura model comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

These engines deliver almost identical power, so you'll feel the strength on each drive. Check out the following metrics below:

  • Lexus RX 350L: 290 horsepower; 263 lb-ft of torque
  • Acura MDX: 290 horsepower; 267 lb-ft of torque

You're also going to see identical fuel economies, and both SUVs can offer an EPA-estimated 19 city/26 highway MPG. However, the Lexus model will offer a fuel tank capacity of 19.2 gallons, while the Acura model offers a capacity of 18.5 gallons.

Lexus RX 350L vs Acura MDX: Safety

Both luxury SUVs demonstrate superb safety on the road and feature an assortment of upgraded technology features. For example, the Lexus RX 350L comes standard with All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. This system lets you choose your following distance and driving speed and will maintain it accordingly. The Acura MDX comes standard with a similar feature.

The Lexus RX 350L also offers a standard Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert to help you merge into another lane or reverse out of a spot. Again, you'll find a similar standard feature on the Acura MDX.

The Lexus model, however, goes on to include a few additional features. For one, there's standard Lane Tracing Assist. It works with the aforementioned All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system to keep you centered in your lane. The Acura MDX has a lane-keeping feature, but it doesn't work together with the cruise control system like on the Lexus.

The Lexus RX 350L also offers available parking sensors through its Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and Rear Cross-Traffic Braking feature. While the Acura MDX has a similar feature, it's not available as an upgrade on the base trim.

Lexus RX 350L vs Acura MDX: Amenities

Your SUV's amenities are important to consider for both your comfort and that of your passengers. The Lexus RX 350L and Acura MDX make sure to include plenty of choices

On both models, you'll find available leather seating that provides a sleek look. These seats offer an available ventilated feature that increases your comfort on those hot summer days. Standard 3-zone climate control will also be a great help as passengers select their preferred temperatures.

On the Lexus model, you'll find a few extra features that could help your commute. For example, there are standard rain-sensing windshield wipers for when you encounter a storm. Unfortunately, this same feature isn't standard on the Acura MDX.

The RX 350L goes on to offer an available Power Rear Door with Kick Sensor, a convenient and hands-free way to open up the tailgate and store your gear. While the Acura MDX does offer its hands-free version, you won't find it on the first few trim levels.
